Privacy Policy

1 What we collect

Learning Block stores the following locally on your iPad only. Nothing is sent to us or any third party from within the app:

• Your child's name and chosen emoji avatar
• Quiz results, streak counts, XP, and badge progress
• Parent settings — year group, topics, quiz length, PIN, and schedule

All app data can be deleted at any time via Reset Progress in Parent Settings, or by deleting the app.

2 Screen Time & device management

Learning Block uses Apple's Screen Time framework — specifically FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivityMonitor — to manage app access on your child's iPad. This is what allows the app to lock and unlock the device based on quiz completion, schedules, and screen time limits.

This feature requires a parent or guardian to grant Screen Time authorisation during initial setup. The authorisation can be revoked at any time via the device's Settings app under Screen Time.

What the app can and cannot see

• The app receives opaque tokens from Apple to identify app categories — it never sees the names, icons, or bundle IDs of any other apps installed on the device
• All device management data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to us or any third party
• The app uses a shared on-device container (App Group) to coordinate between its own components only — this data is not accessible to any other app or service

3 Email waitlist & marketing

If you choose to sign up for updates on our website at learningblock.app, we collect the following information:

• Your email address
• Whether you are a parent or a teacher/school
• The date and time you gave consent

We use this information to:

• Send you a confirmation email when you sign up
• Notify you when Learning Block launches on the App Store
• Send occasional updates about the app, including new features and feedback requests
• Follow up personally with teachers and schools about potential school use

How your data is stored

Email signups are stored securely using Google Workspace infrastructure accessible only to Learning Block Ltd. Confirmation and notification emails are sent via Gmail. Your data is processed using Google's infrastructure, which may involve servers outside the UK. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and provides appropriate safeguards under UK GDPR.

We do not use any third-party email marketing platforms. Your data is not shared with Mailchimp or any equivalent service.

How long we keep your data

We retain your email address on our waitlist until you unsubscribe, or until 12 months after the app launches — whichever comes first. You can request deletion at any time by emailing hello@learningblock.app.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it will immediately remove you from our mailing list and flag your record so no further emails are sent. You can also unsubscribe by replying to any of our emails with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.

Legal basis

We process your email address on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you ticked the opt-in checkbox on our signup form. You may withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing.

4 Payments & third parties

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see or store your payment details. Subscription status is verified locally on your device using Apple's StoreKit framework. Transaction identifiers are stored on-device to confirm your subscription and are not sent to any server.

The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. The only external services used by the app are Apple's App Store for subscription management and Apple's Screen Time framework for device management (see section 2).

5 Website cookies & analytics

Our website at learningblock.app uses cookies and third-party analytics tools to help us understand how parents find and navigate the site. These only apply to the website — the Learning Block app itself contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

What we use

• Google Analytics (GA4) — helps us understand how many parents visit the site, which pages they read, and whether they click through to the App Store. Google may process data on servers outside the UK. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
• Meta Pixel — helps us measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads result in App Store visits. No personal data is sold or shared with advertisers beyond what is needed to measure campaign performance.

Managing your preferences

When you first visit learningblock.app, a consent banner allows you to accept or decline each cookie category individually. You can change your preferences at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page on our website.

Your consent choice is stored in a cookie named lb_consent for 365 days. Clearing your browser cookies will reset your preference and show the banner again on your next visit.

Legal basis

We rely on your explicit consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) to process data via Google Analytics and Meta Pixel. You may withdraw consent at any time via the Cookie settings link in our footer.

6 Your rights

Learning Block Ltd complies with UK GDPR. You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for email communications at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

Because all app data lives on your device, rights relating to quiz progress and settings are exercised directly through the app or by deleting it. For email data, contact us at hello@learningblock.app.
